'Arnold
Promise' Witchhazel
(Hamamelis
x intermidia 'Arnold
Promise' ) is an introduction from the Arnold Arboretum. It
is a beautiful cultivar blooming later than other witchhazels.
Large, extremly fragrant, clear yellow blooms will grace your garden
from early February until March depending on the weather. Witchhazel
blooms are unique with ribbonlike petals, surrounded by a four-lobed
red calyx giving them a spidery appearance.
Good summer green leaf color is followed in autumn by hues of yellow
and red.
Arnold Promise will grow to a height and width of 20 feet and prefers
full sun to part shade in evenly moist, well-drained soil.
