A sleepy, rural suburb of Indianapolis in 1976, Fishers, Indiana was primarily known for a farm equipment store, one stoplight, and a small café where locals gathered to share stories. Along its main thoroughfare, Allisonville Road, Jeff Gatewood began Allisonville Nursery with 15 spruce trees hand dug from a Michigan farm and a handmade sign. The 3 acre plot across from the family owned airport was carved out of farmland that had been in the family for nearly 30 years and housed a 20 x 40 foot structure that once held a flower shop run by Jeff’s mother.
How times have changed. Fishers, Indiana, and Hamilton County (site of Fishers) have led the Midwest and even the nation in growth and prosperity often over the past 10 years and is well-known as terrific place to call home.
And Allisonville Nursery has transformed itself, too. After moving half a mile north in 1985, (after one too many mishaps with aircraft), the nursery now encompasses 5 acres and has expanded into a 7,500 square foot garden store and gift shop.
Along with the finest plant material (much of it hand selected by Jeff at various growers), Allisonville Nursery offers unique statuary, fountains and outdoor “art” to enhance your garden and home. Winding paths and patios lined with gorgeous, healthy plants, musical notes from wind chimes and bubbling fountains all create a lovely respite for serious and “sometimes gardeners” alike.
Not to be missed is a visit to our garden and gift store to view the latest home décor, exclusive products for both indoor and outdoor entertaining, and sought after “pampering” gifts like soaps, lotions and candles….all elegantly displayed at Allisonville Nursery.
A partner in helping you create a beautiful sanctuary at home, Allisonville Nursery is truly where “Home and Garden Meet.”
