Purple Coneflower
(Echinacea
purpurea 'Magnus') was
named the 1998 Perennial Plant of the Year by the Perennial
Plant Association.
This
coneflower sports extra large pink flowers. 'Magnus' is a great cut
flower. Pair with veronicas, ornamental grasses and coreopsis or try
a triple daisy whammy with shasta daisy 'Becky'
and heliopsis 'Summer Sun'.
Leave seedheads for birds in winter and to catch snow. 'Magnus' will
attain a height of 2-3' tall and grows best in full sun and well-drained
soil.
