Christmas tree selection
As your traditional search for the perfect Christmas tree
begins, it seems more choices are available today than ever before.
To help with your holiday tradition, here are some brief descriptions
and benefits of the trees that Allisonville Nursery offers.
The trendiest tree of the past several years has been the Fraser
Fir. It is often referred to as the “Cadillac”
of trees because of its nearly perfect shape and its rich dark-green
needles with silvery undersides. The needles are borne on widely-spaced
branches that display ornaments and keepsakes without bending or slipping.
Needle retention is also among the best.
The classic “childhood” tree in the Midwest is the Scotch
Pine. This traditional Christmas tree has an open-branching
habit for easy ornament hanging and display. The branches are stiff
and covered with long dark green needles that hang on tenaciously even
in the driest of homes.
A favorite of the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii, the Douglas
Fir, is the most aromatic tree releasing a citrus aroma
anytime the needles are brushed against or crushed. These trees have
soft dark-green needles with pliable branches that are open enough to
show the ornaments.
Our last selection, the Concolor
Fir, has a small but vocal following. Its more natural
shape and blue-green foliage on stiff open branches makes it a favorite.
With all these selections to choose from, everyone should be able to
find their perfect Christmas tree. Allisonville Nursery also offers
a beautiful selection of fresh greenery ranging from the traditional
to the exotic. Our special greens include wreathes of fraser, noble
and silver fir, as well as boxwood and white pine. They are available
from tabletop sizes to house sizes. We offer roping of white pine, boxwood,
western cedar and more. Finally, boughs of all types, colors and textures
are also available--from white pine to incense cedar to boxwood to concolor.
Allisonville Nursery—your best source for all your Christmas decorating
needs!
